Ex-Director – Innovation and Commercialization

Imtiaz Muhammad

Dr. Imtiaz is a seasoned leader with over 30 years of international development experience in senior advisory and management positions across Asia and Africa, including eight years serving as Country Representative for CIMMYT Int, in Pakistan, and Chief of the Party for a USAID-funded agricultural development program. With a strong mix of managerial and technical abilities, Dr. Imtiaz has overseen diverse teams of up to 70 staff using his strong interpersonal skills to build partnerships between key public and private stakeholders. His professional work supports policy and partnership dialogues among public and private sector entities, economic growth through the provision of innovative agricultural technologies, and critical capacity building to improve smallholder incomes and contribute to livelihood improvements of rural areas. He is an expert in applied crop sciences, nutrition, market access, and rural finance, formulation of associated policy, demonstrating his expertise through senior program management roles and international consulting work. He joined HarvestPlus in 2021 and transitioned from an advisory role with HarvestPlus to lead H+Solution network entity Nutrition Agri Future Pakistan, as Director for Innovation & Commercialisation. He is leading the formulation and delivery of strategies/activities in the areas of agriculture, food security, nutrition, rural development, and natural resource management.  Dr. Imtiaz received his Ph.D. in Molecular breeding and genetics from Lincoln University, New Zealand, and his Master of Science in agricultural sciences from KP Agricultural University, Pakistan. He worked for the Australian government, the Pakistan government, and international organizations. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 research publications, scientific presentations, reports, brochures, and newsletters.
